To believe that you can make lasting change through self hate is unrealistic. Stop and take a look at the world around you. Where do you see that hate is actually making a positive change? Hard to find any positive examples. So why do we think we can make a positive lasting inner and outer shift with self hate. Change under these circumstances are limited at best. Are you curious way self hate does not bring about lasting change? Well let me tell you. My first example is punishing exercise. So you hate the looks of your body and you are going to exercise it into submission. When we hate and attack self with punishing exercise we actually cause a stress response which increases insulin and cortisol which tells the body to store fat and not gain muscle. Just the opposite of what you are trying to do. Next example is continuously stepping on the scale. How often do you step on the scale and let that rule your life? You either love how it reads or not, for most of us there is never enough pounds shed. Again that sends your body into a stress response. Which can affect hormones, gut bacteria, and much more.
